Obituary

Louis John Rotondi, 91, of Somerset, New Jersey, died on Saturday, June 13th at Robert Wood Johnson/Barnabas Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Born in New York City, Mr. Rotondi received his Bachelor’s Degree in Science from New York University and a Master’s Degree from Yeshiva University. Mr. Rotondi also served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. After serving, Mr. Rotondi began his long teaching career at Sara Lawrence College for a brief period and then with the Oceanside School System, (Oceanside, Long Island) where he taught at Oceanside Junior High and then at Walter Boardman Junior High. The subjects he mastered were Biology and Chemistry. His teaching career spanned from 1955 to 2004. He was also an accomplished craftsman and boatsman, and for many summers, docked his boat at Short Beach Coast Guard Station on the South Shore of Long Island. He was also an avid tennis player, and enjoyed it until his mid-late 60’s.

In 2005, he moved from Island Park, Long Island to Somerset, New Jersey to be closer to his children and granddaughter, where he made many friends at The Renaissance in Somerset. He is survived by his beloved daughter and granddaughter, Susan Rotondi and Siarra Stickle respectively. He is also survived by his son, Paul Rotondi, and his wife, Joan Garrett.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made directly to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105

Service will be held at Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, Franklin Township, New Jersey, 08873, Thursday, June 18th from 1-3pm.

In response to the latest executive order, the funeral home is limiting visitors to no more than 50 people at a time. When visiting, face coverings must be warn at all times. Thank you for your understanding during these challenging times
