Otilio Colon Sr.
Otilio Colon Sr., 91, passed away on Tuesday, August 07th at his home in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Mr. Colon was born August 20, 1926 in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico to the late Emilo and Trinadad (Perez) Colon. He immigrated in the late 1940’s and settled in New Brunswick.
Otilio was a self-employed trade electrician for many years. He was a longtime parishioner at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in New Brunswick, where he was also a member of the knights of Columbus. He was the first Hispanic to settle in New Brunswick. Otilio was also involved with many political matters in New Brunswick. He enjoyed traveling, reading and farming; above all he loved gardening.
Mr. Colon is predeceased by his spouse, Antonia Colon.
He is survived by his daughters, Maria Colon Natal and her husband Louis and Teresa Colon Cody and her husband Christopher; his sons, Antonio Colon and Pablo Colon and his wife Danielle; his brothers, Jose, Felix and Jesus Colon; his sister, Maria Zayas; his grandchildren, Vanessa, Crystina, Brianna, Louis Jr., Kyle, Ryan and Luke; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held at Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset, NJ 08873 on Friday, August 10th from 09:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 10th at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in New Brunswick. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery in New Brunswick.
