Robert D. "Bob"  Jones
Robert D. “Bob” Jones of North Brunswick, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital on June 17, 2018 after a long illness.

Born on October 29, 1946 in Manhattan, NY to Robert W. Jones and Josephine (Ryan) Jones, Bob was raised in Ridgewood, Queens, NY. He graduated from Western New England College in 1970 with a B.S. in Accounting. In the years that followed, he worked at several banking institutions, retiring from HSBC Bank in NY in 2011. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time as a patient advocate, educating and supporting cancer patients undergoing treatment. In his free time, Bob loved making his grandchildren laugh, reading newspapers, keeping up with politics and cheering for St. John’s basketball. He also found profound happiness at his house near the beach in Montauk, NY.

Bob is survived by his dedicated wife of 48 years, Patricia (Sherlock) Jones, his daughter, Tara Jones Hughes and her husband Scott Hughes of Cranbury, NJ, and his son, Robert P. Jones and his wife Jennifer McCullough Jones of Summit, NJ. He was fortunate to know seven amazing grandchildren, Brigid, Keira, Declan, Maeve, Maggie, Erin and Ryan.

Visitation will be at Gleason Funeral Home in Somerset, NJ on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.

A Catholic mass will be celebrated at St. Matthias Church in Somerset, NJ at 10:30 A.M. on June 21, 2018, details to follow. More information can be found at www.gleasonfuneralhome.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, www.stjude.org.
