Obituary for Ida Swayne

Ida Swayne, Somerset NJ

Ida Swayne passed away on Friday at Robert Wood Johnson Somerset in Somerville NJ at the age of 81.

Ida was born in Brooklyn and graduated from St. Edmunds High School. She lived for a short time in North Carolina before moving to Somerset in 1975.

She was a parishioner of St. Matthias Church in Somerset. Ida was happiest when spending time with her large family and close friends. Her seven grandchildren were her pride and joy!

Ida was pre deceased by her husband Michael Swayne in 2004 after 45 years of marriage, her daughter Anne Sickles in 2012 and a sister,Patsy Egan.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Patricia Swayne of Harmony, NJ, Michael Swayne and Linda of Somerset, NJ, Maureen Swayne of Somerset, NJ, James Swayne and Melissa of Somerset, NJ and John Swayne of Somerset, NJ. Mrs. Swayne is also survived by her siblings James Murphy and his wife Dorothy of Long Island, NY, Bill Murphy of New York, NY, Lawrence Murphy and his wife Janice of Long Island, NY, Carol Walsh of Rochester, NY, Eileen Gage of Mt. Bethel, PA, John Murphy of Brooklyn, NY and Mary K Shields of Long Island, NY. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren James, Claire, Audrey, Thomas, Molly, Jane, and Grant, her grand dog Daisy and over 35 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday June 13 from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset, NJ. Funeral services will begin on Thursday at 9:45 AM at the Gleason Funeral Home 1360 Hamilton Street in Somerset followed by a 10:30 AM funeral mass at St. Matthias Church in Somerset. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
