Thomas “Tom” H. Egan

Somerset, NJ

Mr. Thomas Egan passed away on Friday, May 11, 2018, at the Regency Heritage Care Center in Somerset, NJ. He was 84 years old.

Tom was born in Newark, NJ but grew up in Bloomfield, NJ. He was a graduate of Bloomfield High School and Newark College of Engineering (now NJIT). He served our country faithfully in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer. He and his wife, Nancy, raised their family in Clifton, NJ, and Mr. Egan retired from Hoffmann-LaRoche, Nutley, NJ, as a Chemical Engineer after thirty years of service to the company. In 2014, he relocated to the Somerset area.

He was an avid boater and fisherman along the Jersey shore, loved to tinker with cars, attend air shows, and loved to travel with his wife, Nancy.

He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas F. and Louise D. Egan, his brother, John J. Egan, and a grandson, Colin P. Murphy.

Mr. Egan is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy Egan, of Somerset, NJ, son Thomas J. Egan and his wife, Joanne, of Verona, NJ, daughter Kathleen Murphy and her husband, Ed, of Somerset, NJ, and grandchildren, Jared Egan, Kaitlin Egan, Melanie Egan and Morgan Murphy.

Funeral services will begin at 10 AM on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, in Somerset, NJ, followed by a 10:30 AM funeral mass at St. Matthias Church in Somerset, NJ. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway, NJ. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Friday, May 18, 2018, at the Gleason Funeral Home.
