Obituary for Michael Betchker

Michael  Betchker
Mr. Michael Betchker passed away on Monday April 16, 2018 at Spring Hills Assisted Living in Somerset. He was 88 years old.

Mr. Betchker was born and grew up in Mahanoy City, PA. After attending high school he enlisted in the United States Navy. After four years of dedicated service to our country, he and his wife Angeline moved to Somerset in 1951.

He was a longtime parishioner of St. Peter the Apostle Church in New Brunswick, a member of the Franklin Eagles A.C., the American Legion in Somerset where he served as a Past Commander, a member of the Somerset Moose Lodge and the V.F.W. in Manville. He was a Rutgers Basketball Fan and enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden. He also was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He was pre deceased by his parents Joseph and Vilma Betchker. He was also predeceased by his siblings Joseph and John Betchker, Anna Betchker, sister Theresa McFarland and granddaughter Colleen Rein and great granddaughter Jordan Mary Bigos.

Mr. Betchker is survived by his wife of 66 years Angeline and his four daughters and their spouses Michele Brensinger and her husband Kenneth, Diane Bigos and her husband John, Bernardine Rein and her husband Robert, and Marianne Nielsen and her husband William, his grandchildren Ryan, John, Meghan, Rebecca, Alison, Adam, Robert, Benjamin, and Kaitlin and great grandchildren Anthony, Lucas, Connor, Caroline, Evan, Tyler and Liam

Visiting will be held on Tuesday April 24, 2018 from 9-11 AM followed by an 11:30 AM mass at St. Peter the Apostle Church in New Brunswick. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Cranbury Road in South Brunswick.
