Obituary for John Quinn

John Quinn, 92, died Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at St. Peter University Medical Center in New Brunswick.

Mr. Quinn was born March 31, 1925 in County Tipperary, Ireland to the late Thomas and Brigid (Smith) Quinn. He immigrated in 1960 and settled in Connecticut and later relocated to College point, NY; in 2003 he moved to Somerset, NJ.

John had numerous jobs since arriving in the US and retired as a bus driver from Queens Surface Private Bus Lines in New York where he worked for almost thirty years. He was a parishioner of St. Fidelis Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus in College Point. After moving to NJ he was a parishioner at St. Augustine of Canterbury Church in Kendall Park. John was active in the Parents and Students of Irish Dancing and Music Association of North America with his beloved wife Kathleen. He loved gardening, playing hurling and promoting Irish culture in the states. He adored his family and friends and found his greatest joy in opening his home to those he loved.

Mr. Quinn was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Quinn; his brothers, Mick and Tommy and his sister, Peg.

He is survived by his daughter, Bridget Quinn of Somerset; his son, John Quinn and his wife Nekay of Tinton Falls; his grandchildren, Briana, Ashlin, Shauna, Ian, Caitlin, Shannon and Colleen; and his many nieces and nephews in Ireland, Canada, England and the states.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Fidelis Church in College Point, NY. Burial will follow at Mount Saint Mary Cemetery in Flushing, NY.
