John G. Pallay, 81, died Sunday, January 07, 2018 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Mr. Pallay was born June 15, 1936 in East Brunswick, New Jersey to the late John and Margaret (Bucko) Pallay. He was a lifelong resident of Somerset.
John attended Mount Saint Mary’s College and earned a bachelor’s degree in Education. Shortly after graduating he was commissioned by President Eisenhower into the Marine Core as a 2nd lieutenant, stationed in Camp Pendleton, CA. He honorably served in the Marines from 1958 to 1961. John also earned his Master’s in Education from Kings College. He was a member of the American Legion.
Mr. Pallay was a school teacher for JFK High School in Iselin, NJ for 32 years. John loved to fish, do crossword puzzles, read, and watch little league games; most of all, he treasured watching his grandchildren play sports.
John is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Helen (Mate) Pallay of Somerset; his sons, Tim Pallay of Beachwood and Chris Pallay of Somerset; his daughter, Kristen Wood and her husband Paul of Mount Pleasant, SC; his brother, Joseph Pallay of Hillsborough; his grandchildren, Timothy, Brandon, Courtney, Patrick, and Brett; his great grandchildren, Gabriella and LJay, and many nieces and nephews
Visitation will be held at Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset, NJ on Friday, January 12 from 4-8 PM.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 13, at 9:00 A.M. at St. Matthias Church in Somerset. Entombment will follow at Franklin Memorial Park Mausoleum in North Brunswick.
