Facing the Legalities
John E. and Kathryn B. Gleason founded the Gleason Funeral Home in 1929 in the City of New Brunswick. Together, John and Kathryn Gleason built a strong foundation that today's generation continues to use as a standard of excellence.
In 1968, John K. Gleason was licensed as a funeral director, and started the second generation of funeral directors at Gleason Funeral Home.
In 1971, in response to the changing needs of contemporary funeral service, John and Barbara, with the guidance of Kathryn, moved to their present location at 1360 Hamilton Street Somerset, New Jersey. At that time, John K. Gleason was named manager.
While raising three children, managing a household and providing John with behind the scenes support at the funeral home, Barbara attended mortuary school and was licensed in 1985. John and Barbara worked tirelessly through the years serving families from the old neighborhood in New Brunswick and providing death care to new friends in developing Somerset and Franklin Township area. Barbara and John retired in 2006.
William K. Gleason joined the funeral home staff and was licensed in 2001. He was named Manager of the Gleason Funeral Home in 2006 and is currently the President of the Gleason Funeral Home. Bill, his staff of licensed funeral directors and associates continue to build on old relationships and develop new ones while providing exceptional care to all families in need.
It is with pride, through three generations, that our tradition continues to offer compassionate care in a contemporary manner. We at The Gleason Funeral Home look forward to celebrating our 100th aniversary in 2029.
